MANSORY Soft Kit for the Maserati MC20 — the return to Modena's mid-engine tier after fifteen years

The Maserati MC20 — launched at Modena in 2020 and first deliveries in 2021 — carries a position in the Maserati line that no current mid-engine production Maserati has held since the MC12 ended production in 2005 after a run of just 50 street units. The MC20 is Maserati's return to the mid-engine supercar tier, and it arrives with a powertrain that no other volume supercar carries: the in-house Nettuno 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6, the first production-car implementation of pre-chamber combustion — a dual-ignition system derived from Formula 1 practice, with a primary spark plug firing into a small pre-chamber that propagates ignition through a perforated channel into the main combustion chamber. The result: 630 hp from 3.0 litres, a 7,500 rpm redline, and thermal efficiency that matches or exceeds some hybrid V8 architectures without any hybrid assistance. The Mansory MC20 Soft Kit is calibrated against that context.

Why Mansory offers the MC20 as a Soft Kit rather than a full conversion

The MC20 carries a carbon-fibre monocoque tub from Dallara (the Italian motorsport-engineering partner), with structural carbon bodywork bonded directly to the tub rather than bolted to a steel subframe. That monocoque construction imposes specific constraints on any aftermarket bodywork conversion: the factory body is load-bearing at certain zones, and a full bumper-swap programme requires a motorsport-grade panel-bonding workshop rather than a conventional aftermarket install. Mansory chose to offer the MC20 programme as a Soft Kit tier — bolt-on carbon add-ons that layer onto the factory bodywork without replacing any structural panel — both to preserve the Dallara-engineered load paths and to keep the programme installable at the workshop's standard install-centre network.

Soft Kit content — the published parts list

  • Front bumper lip — carbon bolt-on below the factory front bumper lower edge
  • Sport front bumper lip with mask — aggressive variant with upper-aperture carbon mask (specify one of the two at commission)
  • Front bumper splitter — separate under-tray splitter extending the lip's aerodynamic profile
  • Headlight covers — carbon overlays at the LED headlight upper corners
  • Race flaps — carbon flaps at the front-bumper-lower corner outlets, directing airflow around the front wheel
  • Side skirt lips — carbon sills below the factory rocker panel
  • Front bonnet air-splitter — carbon insert that sits in the factory bonnet intake aperture, visually aggressive while preserving the factory cooling path
  • Front bonnet air-outtake — carbon vent at the bonnet upper surface for extracted warm air from the cooling stack
  • Front bonnet — full-panel dry-carbon bonnet replacement (optional; not bundled with the Soft Kit base)
  • Rear fender air intake — carbon intake-mouth overlay at the rear fender, feeding the mid-engine intake
  • Rear diffuser — carbon diffuser under the factory rear bumper
  • Mirror caps — carbon pair
  • Outer door handle inserts — carbon trim

Material: dry carbon on the race flaps, rear-fender intake, mirror caps and headlight covers; PU-RIM with visible carbon on the front lip / sport front lip, side skirt lips and rear diffuser (dry-carbon upgrade available on all line items). Install three to four shop days, reversible under a shop day — which is the decisive factor for MC20 owners who value the monocoque-carbon factory bodywork and want the upgrade to remain reversible.

Nettuno V6 — pre-chamber combustion and why the kit preserves it

The Nettuno runs twin side-mounted Garrett turbochargers with a 90-degree V-angle and a 180-degree crankshaft for improved turbo spool. The pre-chamber combustion layout uses two ignition sources per cylinder: a primary spark plug firing into the pre-chamber, and a secondary spark plug firing directly into the main combustion chamber for low-load partial-throttle operation. The system cycles between the two depending on engine load; the ECU managing the cycle is a Maserati-specific proprietary unit with no aftermarket recalibration pathway available.

This matters for the Mansory programme because the Nettuno does not accept conventional aftermarket ECU tuning. The Mansory MC20 programme is body-only — there is no Mansory Stage 1 or Stage 2 tune in the catalogue for the Nettuno, unlike the Urus V8 or the BMW M V8 donors. A Mansory sport-exhaust is available as a separate SKU and alters exhaust voicing without touching the pre-chamber calibration. Factory carbon-ceramic brakes (380 mm front / 350 mm rear), factory limited-slip differential, and factory adaptive dampers are all preserved.

MC20 Cielo open-top variant — same Soft Kit

Maserati launched the MC20 Cielo — the open-top retractable-glass-roof variant — in 2022 as the spider sister to the MC20 coupé. The Cielo carries identical front bumper, side skirt, rear diffuser and headlight geometry to the coupé, which means the Mansory MC20 Soft Kit fits both the MC20 coupé and the MC20 Cielo without dimensional change. Cielo-specific installs confirm the electrochromic glass-roof control system is preserved — no Mansory panel overlaps the roof-glass actuator housing, and the factory roof-opacity control continues at factory function.

Wheels — 20" forged on Nettuno-specific fitment

Factory MC20 ships on 20" wheels (20" front, 20" rear). The Mansory forged wheel offering for the MC20 stays at 20" — the factory mid-engine chassis was calibrated for 20" tyre aspect ratios and larger wheel sizes meaningfully alter ride and handling. Tyre fitment 245/35-20 front / 305/30-20 rear; Bridgestone Potenza Sport is the factory-fitted compound and the workshop's sanctioned replacement. Full wheel range at Hodoor forged wheels.

Geography — the Maserati-specific order-book pattern

The MC20 order book has a distinctive geographic signature because Maserati's global dealer network is thinner than Ferrari's, and the MC20 is positioned against both the Ferrari Roma and the Lamborghini Huracán at the factory pricing tier but carries a more Italian-heritage positioning that attracts a distinct buyer profile.

Italy (home-market concentration). Italian MC20 commissions dominate the Mansory order book more than any single market dominates other Italian supercars — Maserati-brand heritage runs deep in the home market, and the MC20's Modena-plant production and Dallara-engineered monocoque feed into the domestic buyer narrative. Milan, Rome, Turin and Modena itself are the primary commission geographies. Italian MC20 Soft Kit commissions weight toward the restrained spec — standard lip rather than sport lip, retained factory paint, standard 20" forged.

US West Coast + South Florida. The US is Maserati's largest export market for the MC20, and the Mansory order book reflects that. Commissions cluster in LA / Beverly Hills, Bay Area, Miami / Palm Beach, and Dallas / Houston. US commissions weight toward sport-lip spec with the race flaps and the aggressive bonnet-outtake configuration.

Gulf secondary-garage cluster. UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar. The MC20 in the Gulf is typically a secondary garage commission rather than a primary flagship — Gulf households that run Ferrari and Lamborghini primary flagships add the MC20 as a Maserati-heritage pick. Mansory commissions from the Gulf cluster tend to full-spec (sport lip + race flaps + rear-fender intake + dry-carbon upgrade + sport exhaust).

Asia-Pacific. China is the third-largest MC20 market after Italy and the US. Hong Kong, Singapore, and South Korea carry smaller commission volumes at the sport-spec level. Japan has a steady but small flow.

Sister Mansory Italian-supercar builds

The MC20 Soft Kit sits in the Mansory stack alongside the Ferrari line (Roma, F8 Tributo, 296 GTB, 812 Superfast Stallone) and the Lamborghini line (Huracán, Huracán Sterrato, Aventador, Revuelto). Maserati households also often commission the Maserati Levante SUV programme on a matched paint and weave spec.

FAQ

Does the Soft Kit fit both the MC20 coupé and the MC20 Cielo open-top?
Yes. The two variants share front and rear bumper geometry, side skirt geometry, and all Soft Kit panel mounting points. Cielo-specific installs confirm that no panel overlaps the electrochromic-glass-roof actuator housing; the factory opacity-control continues at factory function.

Is the Nettuno V6 ECU open to a Mansory Stage 1 tune?
No. The Nettuno's pre-chamber combustion layout runs on a Maserati-proprietary ECU with no aftermarket recalibration pathway currently supported. Tuning is not part of the Mansory MC20 programme. A Mansory sport-exhaust alters exhaust voicing without touching the combustion calibration.

Is the Soft Kit reversible on the Dallara-monocoque bodywork?
Yes, fully. The Soft Kit is bolt-on carbon add-ons only; no structural panel is replaced or modified. De-installation returns the MC20 to full factory appearance under a shop day. This reversibility is a key factor for monocoque-carbon donors because any structural-panel modification would require motorsport-grade rebonding.

Does the rear-fender intake interfere with the factory Nettuno intake cooling?
No. The Mansory rear-fender intake overlay preserves the factory intake aperture cross-section. The Nettuno's twin-turbocharger intercoolers continue to receive airflow at factory design spec.

Are Mansory carbon parts accepted by Maserati service centres for non-collision service?
Yes. Maserati service centres in Italy, Germany, UAE and the US have serviced Mansory-converted MC20s for powertrain and electronics work without issue. Collision bodywork requires sourcing replacement Mansory panels through the workshop because Maserati does not carry the carbon overlay items in the factory parts catalogue.

Does the MC20 Cielo's electrochromic roof-glass operation continue at factory behaviour after Soft Kit install?
Yes. No Soft Kit panel overlaps the roof-glass sensor aperture, the roof-retract mechanism or the opacity-control actuator. Factory electrochromic control with its five opacity tiers operates unchanged.
