Mansory Carbon Fiber Body kit set for Mercedes G-class W463A Star Trooper

Mansory Star Trooper — Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG W463A (2018+, Mansory × Philipp Plein collaboration)

The Mansory Star Trooper is Mansory's collaboration project with German fashion designer Philipp Plein, applied to the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG W463A — the post-2018 G-class on the new chassis Mercedes built to replace the W463 after almost four decades. The Star Trooper is a strictly limited production run; Mansory has not published a unit cap publicly but the cars are commission-numbered and built individually rather than batch-produced. The visual register is operatic — Plein's signature crystals on the grille badge, skull-motif accents in the cabin, a distinctive matte-and-gloss finish split, and gold-accented carbon trim on the bodywork. Like all Mansory × Plein collaborations the car reads as a fashion-house object first and as a body kit second.

This page is the brief for buyers who specifically want the Plein-collaboration spec. Owners who want the same chassis with the standalone Mansory Gronos Facelift visual language — without the Plein collaboration — run that conversation through the Gronos Facelift page. The Star Trooper sits as the higher-spec, fashion-collaboration variant; the standalone Mansory Gronos Facelift is the cleaner Mansory-house language.

The donor — G63 AMG W463A (2018+)

The W463A is the G-class Mercedes redrew in 2018 — same external silhouette as the original W463 (the running-board, square-bonnet G language Daimler kept since 1979), but a completely new platform underneath: independent front suspension (the original W463 ran a solid front axle until 2018), a longer wheelbase (2,890 mm vs 2,850 mm on the older car), and a wider track. The G63 AMG variant runs the M177 4.0 V8 biturbo at 585 PS / 850 Nm, with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic. Curb weight is approximately 2,560 kg. The W463A has been on sale continuously since 2018; Star Trooper builds run on facelift cars (post-2024 facelift introduced minor changes to grille and headlight signatures, but the bumper architecture is unchanged for Mansory fitment).

The Plein collaboration — what makes Star Trooper different

Mansory and Philipp Plein have run multiple collaborative projects across the brand's catalogue. Star Trooper is the W463A G-class entry. The collaboration brief covers exterior accents, cabin trim and badge work — Mansory builds the underlying body conversion, Plein contributes the visual finish package and the cabin retrim spec. The result is a car that is identifiable as both a Mansory G build and a Plein-branded object simultaneously.

Carbon parts — full conversion

Star Trooper is a comprehensive carbon body conversion, not a soft kit. The OEM bumpers replace, the OEM bonnet replaces, the OEM fenders are cut back and flared with bonded carbon. The work is permanent at the fender level.

  • Front bumper assembly — full carbon replacement with revised intake geometry, integrated splitter, brake-cooling cuts; OEM headlight pass-through retained. The Plein collaboration adds a gold-accent strip across the splitter line
  • Plein-collaboration grille badge — the Mercedes star is replaced with a Plein-skull collaboration emblem, set in the OEM grille frame; OEM grille slats unchanged
  • Vented bonnet — full carbon bonnet replacement with two functional NACA cuts and a centre power-bulge; lacquered visible-weave finish on the Star Trooper standard spec
  • Bonded fender flares — front and rear, +30 mm per side at the front axle and +35 mm per side at the rear, dimensioned to clear the matched 23" forged stagger
  • Side step replacements — full carbon running boards with skull-motif tread inserts (Plein collaboration detail)
  • Spare-wheel cover — flat carbon plate over the rear-mounted spare with a Plein-skull centre emblem; the OEM Mercedes star recess is replaced
  • Rear bumper assembly — full carbon replacement with integrated diffuser and quad-tip exhaust cutout; Plein gold-accent strip across the diffuser leading edge
  • Roof rack and snorkel guard — Star Trooper-specific Plein-collaboration carbon trim pieces

Build time at a Mansory-experienced body shop runs 14 to 18 days for a Star Trooper spec, plus a separate Plein-collaboration finishing window for the gold-accent painting and the skull-motif inlays. The Plein cabin work runs in parallel.

Powerbox + sport exhaust — M177 V8 numbers

Stock M177 in the W463A G63 AMG makes 585 PS / 850 Nm. With the Mansory Powerbox plus the Star Trooper sport exhaust the channel rises to roughly 700 PS / 950 Nm — a +115 PS / +100 Nm gain. The Powerbox is reversible (plug-in piggyback module on the OEM engine harness) and does not modify the OEM ECU mapping. The Star Trooper sport exhaust runs a quad-tip layout in matte black (Plein-collaboration finish) with a valved muffler — no header swap, no cat replacement.

Wheels — M-series forged 23" with Plein accents

The matched fitment is the Mansory M-series fully forged 23" wheel in a Star Trooper-specific finish — matte black with gold accents on the spoke shoulders and the centre cap. The OEM W463A AMG 22" wheel is a cast unit; the Mansory 23" forging trims roughly 6 kg per corner of unsprung mass, even at the larger diameter. The 23" requires a small adjustment to the OEM ride height to clear the front wheel arch at full lock — Mansory's body shop fitment includes the relevant suspension preload tuning. The wheel range, including the standard non-Plein finishes, lives at the forged wheel collection.

Interior — Plein retrim

The Star Trooper cabin is the most distinctive part of the build. Plein's retrim covers seats, headlining, door cards, dashboard topper and floor mats. Skull-motif embroidery on the seat backs and on the floor mat corners; gold-stitched contrast piping on every leather panel; Plein-skull console plaque on the centre tunnel; carbon dashboard inlay with a gold-accent strip; sport steering wheel with carbon spoke-back and a Plein-collaboration leather rim. The OEM Mercedes COMAND multimedia and the digital cluster carry over — Mansory and Plein do not modify the Mercedes electronic architecture.

Donor scope

The kit fits the 2018+ Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG W463A only. It does not fit:

  • The original W463 G-class (1990–2018) — different platform, different bumpers; Mansory covers that chassis with the W463 Wide Body and the standalone Gronos programmes
  • The W464 G-class designation — internal Mercedes engineering refers to the post-2018 G as W463A; "W464" is sometimes used colloquially but is not the AMG production designation
  • The G500 W463A (the non-AMG variant of the post-2018 chassis) — the body parts mostly fit but the exhaust system is M176 V8 specific rather than M177; a separate Mansory part-number set covers the G500 build
  • The Electric G-class EQG (2024+) — different powertrain architecture, different chassis details around the front axle and battery pack; no Mansory programme catalogued for the EV variant yet

Material and care notes for the lacquered carbon parts and the Plein-finish gold-accent panels are documented in the carbon fibre care guide; general background on Mansory's collaboration programmes sits in the complete body kit guide.

Worldwide shipping & quoting

Star Trooper buyers cluster where fashion-collaboration auto builds register strongest — the Gulf, Hong Kong, Monaco, the Russian and Kazakhstani axes. Hodoor World ships pre-assembled crates with paint-pattern documentation and Plein-collaboration finish specifications to the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and Monaco via DHL or DSV freight forwarding. Pricing on request via [email protected] or WhatsApp +44 7488 818747; quotes specify Star Trooper Plein-collaboration spec so the correct finish and cabin retrim ship with the kit.

FAQ

What is the production cap on Star Trooper?
Mansory has not published a strict numbered cap. The cars are commission-built individually and the production rate is constrained by Plein's parallel calendar on collaborative projects. Practical scarcity is high — the Star Trooper is rarer at the kerb than the standalone Gronos Facelift.

Can I spec Star Trooper without the Plein cabin retrim?
No. The Plein collaboration is the defining element of Star Trooper — without the cabin retrim the build is the standalone Gronos Facelift, which is a separate part-number set. Owners who want the body conversion without the Plein cabin work should order Gronos Facelift directly.

Are the Plein skull motifs and gold accents removable?
The grille emblem, the spare-wheel cover emblem and the side-step tread inserts are mechanically removable. The gold-accent paint on the bumpers and the skull-embroidery on the seats are not — they are baked into the Star Trooper finish and trim spec. A future owner who wanted to revert the cabin to non-Plein presentation would need a full re-trim.

Will the kit fit a pre-facelift W463A (2018–2024)?
Yes. The 2024 W463A facelift updated headlights, taillights and grille slats but did not change the bumper architecture. Star Trooper fits both pre- and post-facelift W463A G63 AMG cars without modification.

Is Star Trooper part of Mansory's 35th-anniversary range?
The Mansory × Plein collaboration runs as a continuous programme rather than as an anniversary-tied edition. Star Trooper has been in production since approximately 2019 and Mansory continues to take commissions on the spec — it is not a closed-edition build like the F9XX one-of-one programme.
