The W463 Mercedes G-Class is the longest-running luxury SUV body in production — launched as a civilian Geländewagen in 1979 and sold in essentially the same boxy silhouette for 39 years before the 2018 redesign. The Soft Kit is the entry point into Mansory's G-Class catalogue: a coordinated set of carbon-fibre add-on panels that bolt over the OEM bumpers and bonnet rather than replacing them. It is the answer for G63 and G500 owners who want the Mansory visual language without committing to the full G-Gronos widebody and its extra paintwork.
This page covers the W463 Coupe Soft Kit. For the open-top variant see the Mansory G-Class Cabrio Soft Kit. For the full widebody build see the G-Class W463 Gronos programme.
Every panel in the Soft Kit bolts over the OEM body. Nothing is cut, nothing is replaced — the kit threads onto factory mounting points and into the existing bumper geometry.

Soft Kit panels are pressed in autoclave-cured carbon and finished in lacquered visible weave or in a primed surface ready for body-colour paint. Because the kit is bolt-on rather than panel-replacement, the finish work is light: the OEM body underneath does not need to come off the car. Most owners spec a mix — carbon-weave for the bonnet, mirror covers and A-pillar; body-coloured paint on the bumper add-ons. The Soft Kit deliberately keeps the G-Wagen's track at factory width: there are no fender flares, no widening, no chassis modifications. Off-road geometry, departure angles and the original side-step mounts all stay as Mercedes built them.
Mansory pairs the Soft Kit with 22-inch wheels as the standard fitment — cast multi-spoke designs in the lower price band and Mansory-branded forged wheels in the upper. Owners who want to step up further go to forged 23″, sometimes with carbon spoke inserts; see the full set of options in the Hodoor forged wheels collection. We size and offset wheels per VIN to clear the OEM brake calipers and keep the OEM track.
The Soft Kit itself is body and wheels only — there is no engine work in the package. Owners on G63 AMG cars (M157 5.5 V8 biturbo) typically pair the Soft Kit with an aftermarket exhaust at install time, and on G500 cars (M273 5.5 V8) the AMG-style sound conversion is the most-asked addition. Mansory's full performance programme — ECU and exhaust — is reserved for the G-Gronos build.
The Soft Kit is engineered for the W463 Coupe (pre-2018 facelift), and fits the G350, G500 and G63 AMG variants on identical mounting points. The Cabrio version uses a dedicated kit because of the soft-top frame and the shorter rear quarter; that programme lives on its own product page. Install at a competent body shop runs 1-2 days for the bolt-on work, plus paint-prep on whichever panels you choose to colour-match. The whole kit comes off in an afternoon if the car ever needs to go back to OEM — there is nothing destructive about the install.
Mansory's G-Class catalogue spans bolt-on Soft Kits up to fully homologated 6x6 widebody builds. The Soft Kit is the lightest entry:
For the visual references and history of every Mansory G-Wagen build, the Mansory Mercedes G-Class blog is the catalogue.
Owners pick the Soft Kit for two specific reasons. The first is reversibility — a leased G-Wagen, a car that may end up on a flip in two years, or a daily that needs to keep AMG warranty paperwork clean cannot run a widebody build. The Soft Kit comes off without trace. The second is paint workload. A G-Gronos build is a body-shop project of one to two weeks and a full re-spray of every new panel. The Soft Kit is two days at the shop, with most of the carbon left in visible weave, and a small list of panels that get body-colour paint. The visual delta against a stock G63 is still substantial — the bonnet vents and the front bumper extension change the front of the car the most — but the project complexity is closer to a wheel-and-trim job than to a build.
The G-Class is a global vehicle but the buyer base for an aftermarket carbon programme is concentrated. The Soft Kit ships from our European hub to the markets where the W463 lives in numbers:
The Soft Kit is normally ordered as a full set, but every panel — bonnet, front add-on, rear add-on, mirror covers, roof spoiler — has its own SKU and can be ordered alone. Standard production from the workshop is four to six weeks; in-stock items leave faster, and we can usually pair a wheel order with the kit so it lands on a single freight booking. Email [email protected] or WhatsApp +44 7488 818747 with your VIN and the variant (G350, G500, G63, year) and we will quote a landed price including paint if you want us to handle the body-shop end-to-end. For one-off carbon panels or bespoke leather to match, the Custom Design & Build service is the route. New Mansory G-Wagen releases sit on the Hodoor Mansory blog.
Soft Kit vs G-Gronos — what is the practical difference?
The Soft Kit is bolt-on carbon over the OEM body. The G-Gronos replaces the OEM bumpers and adds 40 mm of body width per side via fender flares. Soft Kit installs in days, comes off cleanly, and costs a fraction. G-Gronos is a body-shop project. They share Mansory's visual language but they are different programmes — not different sizes of the same one.
Will it fit a G63 AMG specifically?
Yes. The Soft Kit is engineered against the W463 (pre-2018) bumper geometry and that is identical between G350, G500 and G63 AMG. The G63 carries factory side pipes and an AMG-specific bumper grille — those stay; the Soft Kit goes on top.
Does the kit fit the W463A facelift (2018+)?
Not directly. The 2018 facelift changed the bumper geometry and headlight shape — a different programme is needed. For the new chassis the right starting point is the G-Gronos W463A.
Can I keep the OEM rear spare-wheel cover?
Yes. The Soft Kit's rear spare-wheel cover trim is optional — it bolts over the OEM cover and can be removed without disturbing the OEM piece beneath.
Does the lightweight bonnet need re-tuning the gas struts?
Sometimes. The carbon bonnet is lighter than the OEM steel piece; the OEM gas struts hold but feel snappier. Most installers swap the struts at install time — a 30-minute job, parts available from Mercedes.
Will 22″ wheels clear the front brakes on a G63?
Yes. The G63 AMG factory caliper sits well inside a 22″ wheel; we configure offsets per VIN. 23″ also clears with the right offset; we double-check against your build code before shipping wheels.
