An armored G-Class is mechanically a different car from a standard G-Class. The W463A G63 leaves Graz already at 2 560 kg in standard trim; the armored variant — whether ordered through Mercedes-Benz Guard, through Klassen, through Inkas Armored Vehicle Manufacturing in Toronto, or through one of the Stuttgart-area independent armorers — adds between 1 200 kg and 1 600 kg of ballistic glass, AR-500 steel plate floor reinforcement, run-flat-tyre wheel inserts, blast-resistant fuel-tank cladding and door-frame stiffening. Total kerb weight in B6 trim sits at approximately 3 800 kg; B7 (the highest civilian protection class commonly available, equivalent to VR9 under VPAM standards) climbs to roughly 4 100 kg. The Mansory body programme on this page is engineered for that mass envelope. It is not a re-application of the standard W463A kit with a heavier wheel — it is a dimensioned variant with reinforced bumper substrate, recalibrated mounting hardware, uprated forged wheel load index, and clearance compensation for the additional armored-door-edge thickness.
In the Hodoor G-Class catalogue, the armored programme sits alongside the standard W463A Gronos, the cosmetic-finish Gronos Algorithmic Fade, the Star Trooper desert and Viva Edition 2021 sets, and the next-generation W465 Gronos. The armored programme does not transfer to W465 cars or to pre-2018 W463 ladder-frame G-Classes.
Three factors. First, total mass: 4 100 kg in B7 trim is approximately 60% above the standard G63 figure, and the standard Gronos bumper substrate is dimensioned to a 2 700 kg load case. The armored programme uses a thicker PU-RIM substrate with steel-reinforcement inserts at the bumper-to-frame mount, increasing the part's own mass by approximately 8 kg per bumper but giving the structural margin needed against the armored car's heavier crash dynamics. Second, door-edge geometry: an armored G63 has thicker doors (the door card thickness rises from 95 mm OEM to approximately 145 mm in B7), which pushes the rear-fender flare closer to the door. The armored Mansory fender flare is dimensioned with an additional 8 mm clearance between the door shut-line and the flare leading edge — the geometry is panel-set-specific and the standard Gronos flare cannot be substituted in. Third, wheel load: a 4 100 kg car running 295/35 R24 needs a tyre with a load index of 116 (1 250 kg per corner) at minimum; the standard Gronos 24" forged wheel is rated for the 2 700 kg load case and would not pass TÜV against the armored mass. The armored Mansory wheel is a re-engineered casting and forging schedule with the load case re-validated for B7 mass.
An armored G63 retains the AMG-developed M177 DE40 AL 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 unchanged. Factory output remains 585 hp at 6 000 rpm and 850 Nm from 2 500 rpm, with the 9-speed AMG Speedshift TCT-9G transmission and 4MATIC permanent four-wheel drive. The factory 0-100 km/h figure of 4.5 seconds rises to approximately 6.2 seconds at B6 mass and 7.3 seconds at B7 mass — performance loss to ballistic mass is unavoidable on an unboosted calibration. Mansory's calibration module for the armored donor is the same M177 ECU schedule used on the standard G63 (target 720 hp / 950 Nm with sport-exhaust pairing), bundled with a heavier-duty 9G transmission cooler upgrade to manage the increased load on torque transfer at armored mass. Acceleration recovers to approximately 5.4 seconds 0-100 km/h on a B7 chassis at the calibrated output. Top speed remains governed at 220 km/h with the AMG Driver's Package; the armored car's tyre rating is the binding constraint above that point.
The armored Mansory wheel set ships with the same visible patterns as the standard programme — YN.5 double-Y, FD.16 dual-spoke concave, M.7 classic — but with a different forging schedule. PCD 5x130, centre bore 84.1 mm, ET range matched to the +30 mm flare. Rim width: 10.5J across both axles in standard fitment. Tyre fitment: 295/35 R24 in load index 116 minimum (1 250 kg per corner) with armored-grade run-flat inserts available as a separate SKU. Wheel material: forged 6061-T6 aluminium with the inboard barrel reinforced by an additional flow-formed shoulder. The wheel set carries TÜV documentation against the armored G63 kerb weight at 4 100 kg in B7 trim. Forged catalogue: hodoor.world/collection/forgedwheels. Specify the donor's actual armoring class (B6, B7, or VR-spec equivalent) at order so the correct load-rated tyre and wheel SKU pair is bundled.
The armored G order book is geographically clustered around principal-protection markets and high-net-worth security programmes. The map is narrower than for a standard G63 but the per-commission spend is the highest in the W463A G-Class range.
Reinforced carbon body kit (full): seven to eight weeks from the workshop. Calibration module + heavy-duty cooler + sport-exhaust commission: five weeks parallel. 24" forged wheel set with armored load index: five to six weeks (the casting and forging schedule is run separately from standard-load wheels). The full programme ships with a TÜV-registered load-case certificate keyed to the donor VIN and the donor's armoring class. Email [email protected] with the W463A VIN, the armoring shop and class (B6 or B7, or VPAM equivalent), the destination country and the OEM body colour code. Buyers commissioning through Mercedes-Benz Guard or Klassen during the same build window can sequence the Mansory install at the armorer's facility before final dock-out — quote on request.
Does the armored Mansory programme work with non-Mercedes-Benz-Guard armoring?
Yes. The kit is dimensioned around the armored car's mass envelope and door-edge thickness, not around any single armorer's process. Klassen, Inkas, Texas Armoring Corporation, Streit Group and other major B6/B7 armorers all produce W463A G63 conversions within the dimensional tolerance the Mansory programme is engineered to. Specify the armorer at order so we can cross-check the door-edge thickness specification before bumper substrate forging.
Can the standard Gronos bumpers and fenders be substituted in for cost reasons?
Not on a B6/B7 chassis. The bumper-substrate load case fails against armored mass and the fender-flare clearance fails against the thicker armored door geometry. Owners commissioning the kit on a Mercedes-Benz Guard B4-class car (light armoring, approximately 3 100 kg) sit closer to the standard Gronos load envelope and can be quoted on the standard programme with a wheel-load uprate alone — but the bumper substrate still benefits from the reinforced spec.
How does the kit interact with the OEM Mercedes-Benz Guard distance-pilot and emergency-brake-assist?
The reinforced front bumper preserves the OEM Mercedes-Benz Guard radar module mounting bracket and accepts the front-bumper-mounted distance-pilot sensor without harness modification. ABS, ESP and the AMG-G63 drive-mode menu all run on the OEM calibration. Front and rear PDC sensors transfer from the OEM bumper into the Mansory bumper at install. The Guard-spec satellite-tracking antenna pod, where ordered, retains its OEM mounting.
Run-flat tyre inserts — included or separate?
Separate SKU. The 24" forged wheel set is delivered with the wheel and standard load-index tyre fitted. Run-flat inserts (Hutchinson VFI or Rodgard, depending on availability and destination certification) are a per-corner SKU. We hold both VFI and Rodgard certified against the Mansory wheel barrel geometry; specify which insert and which destination certification regime at order.
Does the kit affect the AMG factory warranty?
Body and wheels are no longer Mercedes-Benz-supplied, so warranty on those items is replaced by Mansory's own. Powertrain warranty on the M177, the 9G transmission and the 4MATIC transfer case all remain in force. The calibration module, where ordered, voids the AMG ECU warranty per VIN.
