Splitter for front mask Mansory Carbon for Audi RS Q8

The under-mask splitter is one of those small Mansory carbon parts that quietly does a lot of work on the Audi RS Q8 4M. It is the thin horizontal blade that mounts directly under the Singleframe grille mask, in the narrow band of bumper face between the lower edge of the mask and the top of the main chin lip. Visually it stitches the upper face into the lower aero. Functionally it pulls a measured amount of air toward the central radiator inlet and gives the upper bumper a defined shadow line. As part of the wider Mansory Carbon Fiber Body kit set for Audi RS Q8 programme it is one of the cheapest tickets into genuine autoclave-cured carbon and is almost always the second part RS Q8 owners specify after the mask itself.

Construction & Materials

The splitter is laid up at the Mansory facility from prepreg carbon, autoclave-cured under heat and pressure, then trimmed, drilled and finished with a UV-stable two-component clear lacquer. The blade is structural enough to survive driveway entry-angle scrapes without delamination, yet thin and light enough that it is invisible on a kerb-weight scale.

  • Weave: 3K twill on the visible face, 200 g/m² prepreg, weave indexed dead-centre on the blade and aligned with the mask's vertical Singleframe ribs.
  • Cure: full autoclave cycle, 6 bar / 130 °C, vacuum-bagged for void-free lamination.
  • Wall thickness: 2.4-2.8 mm core; outer rib doubled to 3.5 mm where it meets the bumper face for a clean shadow line.
  • Weight: ~0.7 kg as supplied with hardware (~0.4 kg lighter than the OEM trim it replaces in this zone).
  • Mounting: OEM bumper bolt-through points, plus 3M VHB tape strip along the upper edge for a vibration-free interface.
  • Finish: gloss clear lacquer standard; matte and soft-touch satin available to match the rest of a Mansory Carbon front-end specification.
  • UV pack: HALS-stabilised lacquer system, designed to hold gloss and weave clarity through long-term sun exposure on a daily-driven SUV.

Design & Visual Function

On a stock RS Q8 the area between the Singleframe mask and the front splitter is a fairly anonymous slab of body-coloured plastic. The under-mask splitter replaces that slab with a thin carbon blade that runs the full width of the mask. The visual result is a continuous carbon band around the upper face: the mask itself, the splitter directly underneath, and (further down) the main front splitter on the chin. Without this little blade, the mask floats; with it, the entire face reads as one piece.

Aerodynamically it is not a downforce-generating element on a 2,315 kg SUV at 250 km/h - the chin splitter does that work. What it does is shape the inlet to the central radiator. The lower edge of the splitter forms a small stagnation step that organises airflow into the Singleframe inlet, helping the central radiator and the V8 biturbo's coolant circuit stay within target temperature window during sustained autobahn pace. The OEM sensor cluster, parking sensors and ACC radar housing in the bumper face above the splitter are entirely retained.

It is intentionally distinct from the chin splitter: the chin splitter sits at the lowest point of the front bumper and addresses approach angle, downforce and front-axle aero. The under-mask splitter lives several centimetres higher, deals only with the upper face, and is geometrically a different part. Cars often run both - the genuine Mansory front-end is built around them as a pair.

Compatibility & Fitment

The splitter fits Audi RS Q8 (4M chassis, MY2020+) including the pre-facelift 2020-2023 cars and the 2024+ facelift Performance models with adjusted bumper geometry. Mansory ships variants tailored to the bumper revision; please confirm VIN and exact build month on order so the correct cut is dispatched. The blade slots cleanly under both the silver-logo and illuminated-logo Mansory front-mask variants, and is geometrically indifferent to whether the chin splitter below it is OEM RS Q8 or the Mansory carbon front splitter. All OEM features above and around the splitter - parking sensors, ACC radar window, headlight washers, drive-mode bumper-flap actuator where fitted - remain fully functional.

Installation & Reversibility

This is one of the simpler Mansory carbon parts to install on the RS Q8. Estimated workshop time is 45-90 minutes. Tools: T20/T25 Torx, 8 mm and 10 mm sockets, plastic trim tools, isopropanol for surface prep, primer pen for any clipped studs, a torque wrench for the bumper-mask bolts. The car should be lifted on a four-post or scissor lift; if you are working at home, drop the air suspension to its highest mode using Audi drive select to give better access under the front-end.

Workflow: remove the front number plate and any plate plinth; release the lower edge of the front-mask trim; offer up the splitter and dry-fit at the OEM bolt-through points; mark the VHB tape line; clean the bumper face with isopropanol; bond and bolt; reinstall mask trim; torque to spec. Installation is fully reversible: bolts unwind, VHB strip releases cleanly with a heat gun on low setting and a citrus residue remover. DIY is realistic for a methodical owner; for cars heading to a body shop for the full Mansory front-end it is normally fitted alongside the mask in one visit.

Pairing within the Mansory RS Q8 programme

This card is from Section A - genuine Mansory autoclave carbon. Within that line, the under-mask splitter pairs most naturally with the part it physically mounts under, the Front mask with silver logo Mansory Carbon for Audi RS Q8; together they form the upper-face graphic. Owners who want the full lower-aero chin treatment add the Front splitter Mansory Carbon for Audi RS Q8 - a different and lower-mounted part - and finish the look with the Race flaps front bumper Mansory Carbon for Audi RS Q8 at the bumper corners. All three are genuine Mansory and share the same weave indexing and lacquer system, so the front-end reads as one piece rather than three glued-on accessories.

Maintenance & Durability

Lacquered carbon dies from three things: UV, the wrong cleaning chemistry, and propagating chips. UV: a ceramic coating with a Si-O backbone laid over the lacquer essentially eliminates the problem and is the recommended finish for any RS Q8 that will see daylight. Carnauba wax is a softer alternative but needs reapplication each season. Cleaning chemistry: never use ammonia-based glass cleaners on lacquered carbon, never use alkaline wheel-cleaner overspray, and avoid aggressive solvents. A pH-neutral shampoo and a clean microfibre is all this part needs.

Chip handling: a stone chip that breaches the lacquer must be sealed within a few weeks before water tracks under the lacquer and starts a bigger lift. The standard repair is a clean, scuff, blend with 2K clear and a small re-polish - any decent body shop can handle it on a coffee-break timeline. Treated this way, a lacquered Mansory carbon under-mask splitter will outlive several sets of tyres and brake pads.

Lead Time & Warranty

Standard lead time is 4-8 weeks. Mansory parts are built to order rather than warehoused; the splitter is one of the faster items in the catalogue because it is a single small autoclave layup. Lead time stretches longer if you bundle illuminated-logo masks or multi-piece kits onto the same order. Warranty is 12 months from delivery against manufacturing defects: voids, lacquer failure under normal conditions, lamination separation. Stone-chip damage and installation-induced cracks are not covered.

FAQ

Q: Will it fit my facelift 2024 RS Q8 Performance?
A: Yes. Send VIN at order so we ship the facelift-cut version - bumper geometry shifted slightly with the 2024 update.

Q: Do I need the Mansory front mask for this splitter to look right?
A: It is designed as a pair, but on cars retaining the OEM mask the splitter still works visually. The full effect requires the carbon mask above it.

Q: Is it the same as the front splitter?
A: No. The front splitter sits at the lowest point of the bumper (chin position). This part lives directly under the Singleframe mask, several centimetres higher. Different geometry, different role, often run together.

Q: Will it interfere with parking sensors or ACC radar?
A: No. The splitter is below the sensor zone of the bumper face; sensors and radar window stay fully OEM and functional.

Q: Raw weave or lacquered?
A: Lacquered gloss is standard. Matte and satin soft-touch are available; raw exposed-weave is not recommended for a daily-driven SUV due to UV exposure.

Q: Can I install it myself?
A: Yes - it is one of the simpler Mansory parts to fit. About an hour with basic tools, OEM bolt-through points, plus a strip of VHB along the upper edge.

Pair it with the matching carbon mask above and the chin splitter below to lock in the genuine Mansory upper-face graphic on your RS Q8. Order via WhatsApp +44 7488 818 747 or [email protected].
