Front mask with silver logo Mansory Carbon for Audi RS Q8

The front mask with silver logo is one of the signature face-changing components inside the Mansory Carbon Fiber Body kit set for Audi RS Q8 programme for the Audi RS Q8 (4M chassis). It is a full carbon-fibre replacement panel for the OEM Audi single-frame grille assembly, finished with a brushed-aluminium Mansory wing emblem at the top centre. Owners specify it because it pulls the visual centre of mass of the front end upward, tightens the relationship between the headlamp daytime-running signatures and the grille, and replaces the painted plastic Singleframe surround with a flush exposed-weave structure. On a 2,315 kg SUV-coupe with a 4.0 TFSI biturbo V8 and 48V mild-hybrid system that pulls a lot of cooling air through this opening, the panel has to be more than cosmetic — and this one is engineered around that constraint.

Construction & Materials

The mask is laid up as a single bonded carbon shell with separate hex-pattern mesh inserts. Mansory uses prepreg carbon in twill weave for the visible outer skin and a coarser woven inner ply for stiffness around the radar housing and the emblem mounting boss. The silver logo itself is a CNC-milled, brushed and clear-anodised aluminium piece, bolted from behind through a sealed grommet so no fastener is visible from the outside.

  • Outer skin: 3K twill prepreg carbon, autoclave-cured at controlled pressure and temperature
  • Substructure: bidirectional carbon plies with localised reinforcement around radar window and logo boss
  • Wall thickness: ~2.0–2.4 mm in the visible faces, stepping up to ~3.5 mm at mounting flanges
  • Weight: roughly 2.6–3.1 kg complete (mesh inserts and silver emblem included)
  • Mansory hex-pattern mesh inserts in matte-black powder-coated aluminium, riveted to the carbon shell
  • Brushed-aluminium silver Mansory wing logo, top-centre, mechanically fixed (not adhesive only)
  • Mounting: OEM Audi grille bolt pattern reused, plus dedicated clips at the upper crossmember
  • Finish options: high-gloss UV-stable clear lacquer (default) or satin/matte 2K clear

Design & Visual Function

The Audi RS Q8 has one of the most aggressive single-frame grille geometries in the current Audi range — a wide, slightly hexagonal opening that frames the central radar module and feeds the main radiator stack and the auxiliary coolers behind it. Mansory respects that geometry exactly: the carbon mask sits in the same plane as the OEM panel, with no protruding lip and no change to the inlet area. What changes is the surface language. The outer frame becomes a continuous exposed-weave carbon band, the inner field is filled with the Mansory hex mesh, and the brushed silver wing logo at top centre catches highlight light differently from the gloss-black factory rings.

Critically for a 600 hp twin-turbo V8, the grille opening still has to feed the main charge-air stack. The hex mesh is sized so its open area matches or exceeds the OEM honeycomb pattern, and the lower edge of the carbon frame is kept clear of the central radiator core. The two outboard intercooler intakes — the side scoops behind the headlamps that feed the air-to-air coolers tucked behind the front fenders — are not part of this panel and remain entirely untouched. That separation is deliberate: this is a grille mask, not a bumper, and it must not interfere with the intercooler airflow paths that keep intake temperatures sane during sustained high-load driving.

The radar window for the adaptive cruise / front-collision module is cut and lined exactly to the OEM bracket, so the ACC sensor sees through the same composite stack thickness it was calibrated for. The OEM front camera (lane assist, traffic-sign recognition, surround-view front node) sits in a moulded recess behind the upper carbon lip and is retained with its factory bracket — no relocation, no recalibration required.

Compatibility & Fitment

Designed for the Audi RS Q8 (4M chassis, MY2020+). Both pre-facelift cars (2020–2023) and the facelift / Performance cars (2024+) are covered, but the bumper geometry was tweaked slightly with the 2024 update around the upper grille shoulder line, so the mask is produced in two sub-variants matching each bumper. Confirm your VIN and build year with us before order — a five-minute check that prevents an expensive refit.

OEM functions retained: ACC long-range radar, front-camera vision system, parking sensors (none of which sit in this panel directly, but the surrounding bumper sensors are unaffected), bumper-flap actuators where fitted, headlight washers, and the lower active grille shutters where present. LHD and RHD cars use the same mask — the only side-specific component is the camera bracket, which mirrors the factory part.

Installation & Reversibility

The front mask is designed to swap onto OEM mount points without drilling. Estimated bench time is 60–90 minutes for an experienced trim technician: front bumper does not have to come off the car for removal of the OEM grille on the RS Q8, but it makes access to the upper crossmember clips easier. Tools needed: Torx T25 / T30, plastic trim wedges, masking tape for paint protection on the bumper edge, and a soft microfibre to handle the carbon. The car should be on a flat lift; the air suspension can be parked in entry/jack mode to give comfortable working height.

Paint and primer prep is not required — the mask ships ready-finished. The only finishing decision is whether to leave the visible weave in gloss clear (factory default) or have it shot in satin 2K clear before fitment. Reversibility is full: every original Audi grille mounting hole is reused, no body panels are cut, and reverting to the OEM grille is an unbolt-and-swap operation. Mansory recommends a certified body shop for the very first install only because the carbon edges are unforgiving of a slipped trim wedge; subsequent re-fits after, say, a winter swap are well within DIY range.

Pairing within the Mansory RS Q8 programme

The front mask is the centrepiece of the upper face of the car, but on its own it sits a little lonely against the factory lower bumper and chin. Within the genuine Mansory carbon line, it is normally specified together with these siblings:

If the build is going further, the natural next step from this trio is the front-fenders-with-logo set, which extends the exposed-weave language from the grille onto the front-arch flares.

Maintenance & Durability

Lacquered prepreg carbon is durable but specific in its care needs. Treat the mask the way you would treat a freshly painted carbon roof on an RS performance car: pH-neutral shampoo, two-bucket wash, soft microfibre, and either a ceramic coating or a high-quality carnauba on top of the clear lacquer. What kills lacquered carbon is the things that strip clearcoat — strong alkaline wheel cleaners migrating onto the lower edge during rinse-off, ammonia-based glass sprays drifting onto the surface, and aggressive solvent traffic-film removers used neat. Avoid all of those and the surface will hold a deep wet look for many seasons.

Stone chip propagation is the other risk on a front-of-car panel. The mask sits behind the front bumper plane and is not directly stone-blasted at speed, but small impacts at the lower edge of the carbon frame are possible. A 7.5–10 mil paint-protection film (PPF) wrap on the lower 60–80 mm of the mask, applied edge-tucked, is a sensible insurance policy and is invisible from a normal viewing distance. Chip repair is straightforward: a clean lacquer touch-up, polish-flat, and re-clear if needed; a competent detailer can restore most localised damage without re-shooting the whole panel.

Lead Time & Warranty

Lead time is 4–8 weeks from order confirmation. The silver-logo variant runs at the longer end of that window because the milled aluminium emblem is produced in small batches and brushed/anodised in-house. Each mask carries a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects (delamination, lacquer failure, fastener-hardware issues). Wear, stone chips, and damage from incorrect cleaning chemistry are not covered, but the warranty does explicitly cover the bond between the silver emblem and the carbon shell — which is the question owners ask most often.

FAQ

Q: What's the difference between this mask and the illuminated-logo version?
A: The shell, mesh and fitment are identical. This card uses a brushed and clear-anodised aluminium silver wing emblem — a daylight-only visual statement, no wiring. The illuminated version uses an LED-backlit emblem with a tap into the city-light circuit and a small driver in the loom. Pick silver if you want an OEM-clean install with no electrical work; pick illuminated if you want the wing to glow at night.

Q: Will it fit my 2024 Performance / facelift RS Q8?
A: Yes — the mask is produced in pre-facelift (2020–2023) and facelift (2024+) sub-variants. Send the VIN at order and we ship the correct shell.

Q: Does the carbon block radiator airflow on the V8?
A: No. The hex-mesh open area is matched to the OEM honeycomb, and the side intercooler intakes are not part of this panel. Sustained high-load cooling capacity is unchanged from stock.

Q: Does the ACC radar still work?
A: Yes. The radar window is cut and lined to the OEM bracket and to the same composite stack thickness, so no recalibration is needed for the adaptive cruise or front-collision systems.

Q: Can I take it off and refit the OEM grille later?
A: Yes — every Audi mounting point is reused; no panels are cut. Reverting is a straightforward unbolt-and-swap.

Q: Gloss or matte clear?
A: Gloss clear is the factory finish and what most owners specify. A satin/matte 2K clear is available on request and pairs especially well with cars finished in matte exterior paint.
