The Mansory front splitter is the lower chin element bolted to the very bottom edge of the RS Q8 front bumper, the carbon lip you see kissing the tarmac when the air suspension is in its lowest setting. It is part of the full Mansory Carbon Fiber Body kit set for Audi RS Q8 programme and one of the components owners specify first when they want the car to read low and wide from across a car park. On a 4M chassis car already weighing roughly 2,315 kg curb, with 600 hp pushed through quattro and an air suspension that drops the nose at speed, the splitter is the piece that finally translates Mansory's design language into measurable front-axle behaviour at autobahn velocities.
This is genuine Mansory factory carbon, cured in autoclave under heat and pressure rather than vacuum-bagged at room temperature. The lip is engineered as a structural aero element first and a cosmetic part second, which is why the layup schedule and resin system matter more here than on a mirror cap or a small trim piece.
The splitter sits below the splitter-for-front-mask (which lives up by the single-frame grille) and below the central radiator inlet. This vertical separation is critical to understand. The upper mask splitter manages air entering the V8 biturbo's central cooler stack; the lower lip you are reading about manages air going under the car. They never fight each other and they are not interchangeable. On the 4M front end the lower opening feeds the brake-cooling ducts and the lower section of the intercooler air path through the wheel-arch routing; the Mansory lip extends forward of that opening by roughly 70 mm, creating a small high-pressure plenum above and a low-pressure region below that the car uses to load the front axle without choking the radiator.
Visually, the lip pulls the car's centre of gravity downward by about a hand's width. The 22-inch and 23-inch OEM RS Q8 wheels suddenly look correct rather than slightly buried in the arch shadow. The Mansory weave wraps over the leading edge with a continuous fibre run, so when the morning sun catches the front of the car the chin throws the same micro-glitter as the front mask and the front-fenders-with-logo, and the car reads as one designed object rather than a stock bumper with a carbon afterthought.
For owners chasing high-speed manners, the practical effect at 250+ km/h on the V-max-derestricted Dynamic+ cars is a noticeable reduction in steering lightness. The RS Q8 already has all-wheel steering and dynamic chassis control; what it lacked from factory was front-axle pressure that the driver could feel through the rim. The splitter provides that pressure without resorting to bolt-on canards.
Audi RS Q8 (4M chassis), MY2020 to current. The splitter targets the Mansory front-mask geometry; if you are running the OEM Audi front bumper without the Mansory mask the lip will still mount, but the upper visual transition is engineered around the Mansory mask cut and looks tidiest with it. Pre-facelift and 2024+ facelift Performance bumpers are both supported; specify your build year at order so the correct mounting tabs are drilled. ACC radar housing, headlight washer jets, parking sensors and active bumper flaps (where fitted) are all retained. LHD and RHD identical part. The lip clears OEM mud-flaps if you are running them; if you fit aftermarket flaps deeper than 25 mm there can be light contact, and we recommend trimming the flap rather than the carbon.
Plan a half day in a clean indoor bay. The bumper does not need to come off for the lip itself, but the lower bumper tray must be dropped: M6 Torx around the wheel-liner edge, two centre M6 bolts behind the tow-eye flap, and four push-pins along the underbody splash tray. With the tray off, the OEM lower lip unclips; the Mansory lip mates to the same bumper land using the supplied stainless hardware plus 3M VHB along the mating land. Raise the air suspension to its highest setting (jack mode, accessed through MMI Vehicle menu) for clearance during the offer-up; this makes the difference between cursing on your back and finishing the job standing. The install is fully reversible for trade-in: the OEM lip refits to the same holes, no drilling is performed in the bumper itself. DIY-capable for a competent enthusiast with a torque wrench; certified body shop recommended if you want the lacquer rolled into the bumper paint break for a fully concours finish.
Within the genuine Mansory carbon line, the front splitter is rarely specified alone. The natural Section A trio is this lip plus race-flaps front bumper Mansory Carbon (the side flap pair that flank the splitter at the corner of the bumper and finish the chin visually) and splitter for front mask Mansory Carbon (the upper grille-mounted blade that completes the two-tier front-end aero stack — a distinct part, not a duplicate). Customers pursuing the full carbon nose also add front fenders with logo Mansory Carbon so the weave runs uninterrupted from chin to A-pillar. All four parts share the same 3K twill stock and the same lacquer batch when ordered together, which matters under direct sun.
Lacquered carbon at the lowest point of the car is the most exposed cosmetic surface on the RS Q8. Treat it accordingly. A ceramic coating rated for at least 9H, applied within 30 days of install over a properly decontaminated lacquer, is the single best thing you can do; it raises the surface energy enough that road grit rolls off rather than embedding. Avoid alkaline wheel cleaners on the splitter end-caps, ammonia-based glass cleaners that overspray onto the lip, and any aggressive solvent intended for tar removal — these attack the lacquer's UV inhibitor before they touch the carbon. Carnauba wax looks lovely for a week and dies in the first rain. For chip repair, the workflow is feather-edge with 2000-grit, two coats of clear matched to the original lacquer (we supply a touch-up kit on request), flat back at 3000-grit, machine polish with a soft pad. Done early, a chip is invisible; ignored for a season, the chip propagates under the lacquer because water wicks along the fibre and lifts the resin from the back. Inspect after every kerb event.
Lead time runs 4 to 6 weeks for standard lacquered finish, 6 to 8 weeks for matte, soft-touch, or raw-weave variants because they ship later in Mansory's production batching. Each lip is matched to a build sheet keyed to your VIN and bumper year so the mounting tabs are drilled correctly. Warranty is 12 months against manufacturing defects — delamination, lacquer cratering, fibre print-through — and explicitly excludes impact damage, kerb strikes and chemical etching, which are addressed under the chip-repair workflow above.
Q: Does this fit the 2024 facelift Performance as well as the pre-facelift?
A: Yes, both bumper years are supported; specify your model year at order so the mounting tabs are pre-drilled to the correct geometry.
Q: Will it interfere with the OEM tow-eye on a recovery?
A: No. The right-hand tow-eye cover is retained as a removable insert and the recovery thread reaches the chassis exactly as factory.
Q: Do parking sensors and ACC still work?
A: Yes. The lip sits below the sensor plane and below the radar housing — no recalibration needed and no fault codes triggered on initial fit.
Q: How much approach angle do I lose?
A: Roughly 1 to 1.5 degrees in lowered mode, none in raised mode. The air suspension's jack setting clears most multi-storey ramps and dealer driveways without contact; lowest comfort mode wants a careful approach angle on speed bumps.
Q: Is the V8 biturbo radiator inlet blocked?
A: No. The lip extends forward of the underbody only; the central radiator inlet, the lower brake-cooling ducts and the intercooler air paths behind the front fenders are completely unaffected.
Q: Can I run it with my OEM Audi RS Q8 front bumper, no Mansory mask?
A: Mechanically yes, visually it is engineered around the Mansory mask cut and looks tidiest paired with it.
Q: Lacquered or raw weave for daily use?
A: Lacquered with a ceramic coat is the longest-lived for daily use; raw weave is for owners planning a paint protection film wrap or a colour-matched paint job.
