Front mask with illuminated logo Mansory Carbon for Audi RS Q8

Within the Mansory programme for the Audi RS Q8 the illuminated front mask occupies the top tier of the kerb-presence ladder. It is the same Singleframe-replacement carbon shell that defines the redrawn nose of the 4M, but the central Mansory wing emblem is now a discrete light element — an edge-lit acrylic body driven from the OEM lighting CAN — so at twilight the badge declares itself before the headlights even fire. Anchored to the parent Mansory Carbon Fiber Body kit set for Audi RS Q8, this part is specified by owners who want the car to read first as a Mansory at night and only second as an RS Q8. It honours the chassis underneath: 4.0-litre TFSI biturbo V8 with 48 V mild-hybrid, ~600 hp in stock trim, 2.3-tonne kerb mass, top speed unlocked to 305 km/h with the Dynamic+ pack — every airflow path the RS engineers carved into the Singleframe is preserved here, the badge just happens to glow.

Construction & Materials

The mask is laid in genuine Mansory autoclave carbon, twin-pressure-cured to suppress voids around the badge cavity where the LED diffuser sits proud of the surrounding weave. The illumination module is sealed before the final lacquer pass, so the optical face never sees ambient moisture during the car's life. Hardware mirrors the silver-emblem variant — same captive nuts, same OEM bolt pattern — but a slim two-pin sub-loom exits from the rear of the badge boss and runs to a tap on the sidelight feed.

  • Layup: 3K twill outer ply, biaxial inner skin, prepreg autoclave cure at ~120°C / 6 bar
  • Wall thickness: 1.9–2.4 mm across the surround; 3.6 mm at the badge boss to host the diffuser
  • Weight: ~5.7 kg complete with illumination module (about 0.4 kg over the silver-logo equivalent)
  • Logo body: edge-lit cast acrylic with a frosted internal scatter pattern for uniform brightness
  • LED package: 4 surface-mount emitters per wing, automotive-grade, ~6,500 K to read white-cool against carbon
  • Sub-loom: weatherproof DT-style 2-pin connector, ground spliced to OEM body earth
  • Mounts: factory captive nuts plus two M6 bumper-bolt locations; clip rails at the upper edge
  • Finish: deep clear polyurethane lacquer, matte or gloss specified at order; UV inhibitor in the topcoat

Design & Visual Function

The geometry of the Singleframe shell is identical to the silver-logo card — same vane spacing, same lower-corner radii, same depth in the central radiator throat. Cooling on the RS Q8 is dominated by the central charge-air cooler with side intercoolers tucked behind the front fender liners, and the mask preserves every path the OEM bumper exposes: the central column to the radiator, the lower corner ducts that scavenge to the front brakes, and the upper bonnet-meeting line that helps lift the stagnation pressure off the leading edge of the hood. None of those paths are obstructed by the badge module, which sits in the upper crown of the grille frame where airflow is naturally low-velocity.

The illumination is engineered as a presence cue, not a road-lighting accessory. Edge-lit acrylic is a fundamentally different look from a backlit translucent panel — the wing silhouette glows from within its own profile while the carbon around it stays unlit, so by day the badge reads almost like the silver version, and only after dusk does it become the focal point. The diffuser is tuned for uniform luminance across both wings, with no hot-spotting near the LED emitters, and the colour is fixed white-cool so it harmonises with OEM Audi Matrix LED daytime running lights instead of competing against them.

Within the broader carbon kit the illuminated mask sets a tone that has to be matched at the rear if the car is to read as a coherent Mansory build: a glowing front emblem with an unlit silver rear logo will pull every photograph off-balance, which is why most owners specify the matching illuminated rear logo panel at the same time.

Compatibility & Fitment

Audi RS Q8 4M chassis, MY2020 onwards. Both the pre-facelift 2020–2023 mask and the 2024+ Performance facelift mask are available; specify chassis year at order so the correct Singleframe radius set is shipped. ACC radar housing, front camera, headlight-washer jets and parking sensors are all retained at OEM positions. The illumination module taps the sidelight feed via a CAN-bus-compatible splice — DRL synchronisation comes through the OEM lighting controller, so adaptive-light gestures (welcome sequence, coming-home) propagate to the badge automatically, and battery-saver behaviour is honoured (the logo will dim or extinguish when the BCM throttles non-critical loads).

Installation & Reversibility

Workshop time is roughly two and a half hours including the electrical splice — about 45 minutes longer than the silver-logo variant because of the loom routing and the post-splice scan tool check. Lift the car in Allroad mode for clearance, separate the front bumper at the wheel-arch and lower-tray fasteners, transfer ACC, parking sensors and washers to the new shell, route the sub-loom along the existing OEM harness path and tap the sidelight feed at the headlight connector. The mask is a clip-and-bolt return-to-stock operation; the only consumable is the splice tap. We strongly recommend a certified Audi or Mansory bodyshop for first-time fitment because the splice quality determines long-term reliability of the illumination.

Pairing within the Mansory RS Q8 programme

This card lives in Section A — genuine Mansory carbon — so siblings here are also genuine Mansory pieces. The most natural companion is the matching rear illuminated panel, rear logo panel with illuminated logo, which is essentially mandatory if the car is to read consistently after dark — front-and-rear glowing wings let photography and bystanders register the brand at any range. The lower aero half of the front face is completed by splitter for front mask, which slots beneath this shell and gives the nose a hard horizontal lower line. If the customer wants the silver-emblem alternative as a daytime-only build instead, the cross-reference is front mask with silver logo — the silver wins on subtler day presence and a cleaner brushed reflection in showroom light, while the illuminated card here wins decisively on night kerb-appeal and on any after-dark video content.

Maintenance & Durability

Treat the mask exactly as you would any lacquered carbon surface — pH-neutral shampoo, soft microfibre, no ammonia, no alkaline wheel cleaner overspray. The illumination element adds one extra rule: do not pressure-wash directly into the badge boss from close range. The acrylic and its seal are weatherproof for normal driving and standard wash routines, but a high-pressure jet held at 10 cm against the join can drive water past the gasket. A ceramic coating over the lacquer extends UV life of the carbon weave to roughly five years before any visible patina; chip propagation on the leading edge can be arrested early with a clear epoxy fill plus a localised re-lacquer. The LED module itself is rated for tens of thousands of hours and outlives several typical service cycles.

Lead Time & Warranty

Lead time is 6–9 weeks because the illuminated variant is a bespoke Mansory build and the badge module is sealed into the layup before final cure — there is no faster track. The 12-month manufacturing-defect warranty covers both the carbon shell and the illumination module; LED failure or diffuser delamination inside that window is a replacement-part claim.

FAQ

Q: Will the badge stay lit while the car is locked and parked?
A: No — the feed is taken from the OEM sidelight channel, so the logo follows whatever the body controller is doing. With ignition off it will participate in welcome / coming-home sequences if those are enabled, and otherwise stays dark. This is intentional; it keeps the install legal and battery-friendly.

Q: Does it work on the 2024 Performance facelift?
A: Yes — there is a facelift-specific shell with the slightly tightened upper grille radius. State chassis year and VIN at order so the right variant is built.

Q: Can I retro-illuminate a silver-logo mask I already own?
A: No. The illumination is moulded into the layup at cure time; there is no aftermarket conversion that meets Mansory's optical and sealing standards. If a customer is upgrading from silver, the silver shell is removed and the illuminated shell is fitted as a complete part.

Q: Will it confuse the ACC radar or the front camera?
A: No. Radar housing and camera mounts sit below the badge and are returned to OEM positions on installation; the illumination module is electrically isolated from those circuits and does not radiate into ACC or camera frequency bands. A post-fit scan tool check is part of the install.

Q: Why does this cost more than the silver-logo card and ship later?
A: The illuminated shell adds the diffuser body, four LEDs, a sub-loom, and a sealed pre-lacquer cure step. Each element is built and inspected before it is committed into the carbon, which is why production runs longer.
