Mansory Carbon Wide Body Kit for Mercedes-AMG GT (C190) Coupé

The wide body kit is the hero of the Mansory Carbon Fiber Body kit set for Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S Coupe programme — the part that resets the silhouette of the C190 from focused front-engine GT into something visually closer to its GT3 customer-racing relative. Where the donor car already runs a long bonnet over the M178 V8 BiTurbo with its signature hot-V turbo placement, then drops the cab rearward over a rear-mounted DCT transaxle, the Mansory widebody amplifies every one of those proportions. Flared fenders, a wider front bumper, deeper side skirts and broader rear haunches turn the AMG GT, GT S, GT C, GT R or Black Series into a stance car that still drives like the AMG it left the factory as.

Construction & Materials

The widebody is built as a multi-piece pre-preg carbon assembly — Mansory cuts the kit into sub-modules so the V8 cooling stack, intercooler ducting and AMG headlight washer apertures stay accessible during install and service. Each panel is laid up over a positive plug taken from a verified C190 donor, then cured in autoclave under controlled temperature and pressure. The result is a panel that holds its dimensional form across the long thermal cycles a hot-V turbo bay puts into the front structure.

  • Pre-preg 3K twill carbon fibre with optional 2K plain weave on outer skins for a tighter visual grain
  • Autoclave-cured at controlled ramp profile for dimensional stability across the long C190 bonnet line
  • Wall thickness 1.6–2.4 mm depending on panel — fender flares slightly thicker for stone-chip resilience
  • Total kit weight delta vs OEM bumper covers: typically -3 to -6 kg net, depending on spec
  • Stainless mounting hardware and OEM-spec fasteners; bonded inserts in high-load corners
  • Deep-gloss UV-stable lacquer finish standard; raw exposed weave available for owners running the GT3-flavoured aesthetic
  • Internal aluminium reinforcement plates at fender-to-arch attachment points
  • Edges chamfered and sealed against moisture intrusion behind the wheel arch liners

Design & Visual Function

The widebody is best understood as a proportion edit rather than a structural rework. The cab-rearward stance of the C190 already places weight visually behind the B-pillar — the widebody pushes that visual centre of gravity even further back by adding width over the rear haunches where the DCT transaxle lives. Track width, on the body side, gains roughly 30–50 mm per axle depending on tyre choice; the kit is engineered to clear the wider OEM-replacement wheel and tyre fitments AMG GT R and Black Series customers already specify, with room for moderate spacers if the owner is targeting a flush face.

Up front, the wider bumper integrates with the post-2017 Panamericana grille language, opening the central inlet and broadening the brake-cooling ducts so the M178 V8 BiTurbo and its front-mounted intercooler still see the airflow they were tuned around. Side skirts pick up the visual line from the front fender flare and carry it cleanly into the rear arch, giving the long door a stronger ground-line and disguising the visual mass of the rocker. Behind the wheel, the rear flares blend over the OEM rear quarter without clipping the door shut line — Mansory's panel break is set against the natural shadow of the C190 rear haunch, which means the kit reads as factory-extreme rather than aftermarket bolt-on.

It is, deliberately, a bolt-on aesthetic kit. There is no chassis cut, no inner structure modification and no impact on AMG suspension geometry — control arms, knuckles, dampers and the AMG Ride Control system stay exactly as they left Affalterbach. The aero contribution is real but modest: the kit cleans up the side flow and supports a coherent front-lip / rear-wing balance, but it is not a downforce package on its own. Pair it with the rear-wing or rear-wing2 and a front-lip to draw the actual aero out of it.

Compatibility & Fitment

The kit targets the Mercedes-AMG GT (C190) Coupé in all trims — base GT, GT S, GT C Coupé, GT R, GT R Pro and Black Series. Roadster fitment overlaps for most modules but the rear quarter geometry differs around the soft-top stowage; Roadster owners should confirm spec with their installer before deposit. The widebody is NOT compatible with the 4-door AMG GT 63 (X290) — that is a separate platform with its own Mansory programme, not this one.

The front bumper module is engineered around the post-2017 Panamericana grille; pre-facelift 2014–2017 cars run the Diamond grille and need owner confirmation on grille-mask interaction before commitment. AMG headlight washer apertures, OEM parking sensors, radar and camera positions are retained. AIRPANEL active underbody aero on GT R is preserved — the kit does not interfere with the electric flap actuation underneath the front bumper. Exhaust geometry, OEM rear diffuser hardpoints and the DCT transaxle service clearance are all unaffected.

Installation & Reversibility

Installation typically runs 12–20 hours of body-shop time for the full kit, plus paint and final detail. The work involves removing the OEM front and rear bumper covers, fitting the new bumpers onto factory crash structure mounts, bonding and bolting the fender flares onto prepared OEM arches, and dressing the side skirts onto the rocker. Where the OEM fender requires localised preparation for the flare overlap, that work is reversible with replacement OEM panels — but it is body-shop work, not driveway work. We strongly recommend an AMG-certified body shop or a Mansory-trained installer for the full kit. Painted-to-body finishes need primer prep and a colour-matched bake; lacquered carbon and exposed-weave panels arrive ready to fit and require only protection during install.

Pairing within the Mansory AMG GT programme

The widebody is the foundation. The natural build-out trio sits on top of it: the bonnet, the wing, and the front lip. For the bonnet, owners typically choose the exposed-weave Mansory carbon engine bonnet — its long surface picks up the new front bumper width and balances the kit's added mass over the front axle. For the rear, pair with the Mansory carbon rear wing to anchor the wider rear haunches with a matching downforce element, or step to the alternative profile if a more static lip aesthetic is preferred. Up front, the Mansory carbon front lip finishes the new bumper's lower line and ties the kit into the road plane. Together those four elements deliver the full Mansory AMG GT silhouette without overstepping the donor car's GT character.

Maintenance & Durability

Lacquered carbon on a widebody car earns its keep at the front splitter line and the leading edge of each fender flare — those are the panels that meet stones, tar spray and parking-bay kerbs. Hand wash with a pH-neutral shampoo, rinse top-down, and dry with a plush microfibre. Avoid alkaline traffic-film removers, ammonia-based glass cleaners on adjacent surfaces and any abrasive sponge — all three will cloud or strip the UV clear. A ceramic coating applied by a detailer over fully cured lacquer extends the gloss life and makes routine cleaning easier; carnauba wax works on the short term but needs more frequent reapplication on a car that sees track days. PPF over the front-bumper leading edge and the lower fender flares is the standard precaution for owners who drive the car as intended. If a panel chips, the carbon weave is reparable by a specialist — small lacquer chips are flatted and re-cleared; deeper damage is a panel-level repair or replacement, not a write-off.

Lead Time & Warranty

Lead time is 4–8 weeks from order confirmation, in line with Mansory's bespoke production schedule. Each kit is built to the donor VIN's facelift status (pre or post-2017) and trim. Twelve months of warranty against manufacturing defects is included; warranty does not cover impact damage, incorrect installation or chemical attack.

FAQ

Q: Will the widebody fit my AMG GT R with AIRPANEL active aero?
A: Yes — the kit is engineered around AIRPANEL retention. The active underbody flaps and their actuation stay fully functional; the new front bumper preserves the aperture geometry that feeds them.

Q: Does it fit the Black Series?
A: The widebody fits the Black Series body shell, but Black Series cars already wear factory wide arches and a unique front bumper. Owners typically commit to the Mansory kit only when replacing the factory aero outright; we recommend a spec call before order.

Q: Will my OEM AMG GT R wheels still fit?
A: Yes. The kit clears the wider OEM-replacement wheel and tyre fitments common on GT R and Black Series. Owners targeting a flush face can run moderate spacers; alignment and corner balance should be re-checked after install.

Q: Is this compatible with the 4-door AMG GT 63?
A: No. This kit is for the 2-door C190. The 4-door GT 63 is the X290 platform and is a different parent in the Mansory programme.

Q: Can my pre-facelift 2015 GT S take this kit?
A: The body sections fit, but the front bumper interacts with the Panamericana grille on facelift cars. Pre-facelift Diamond-grille cars need an installer review before commitment so the front-end transition reads correctly.

Q: Does it hurt the AMG suspension setup?
A: No. The widebody is a body-side change only. Control arms, knuckles, dampers and AMG Ride Control are all untouched. Geometry stays factory unless the owner chooses to add ride-height or alignment changes separately.
