Mansory Carbon Fiber Body kit set for Mercedes S-class C217 Coupé wide body

Mansory wide body — Mercedes-Benz S-class Coupé (C217, 2014–2020)

This is the Mansory carbon wide-body programme for the Mercedes-Benz S-class Coupé — the C217 body Mercedes built between 2014 and 2020 as the two-door successor to the C216 CL-class. The C217 was the last S-Coupé with a V12 option (the M279 6.0 in the S 65 AMG), and the only generation to wear the S-Coupé name — by 2020 Mercedes had replaced it with the C223 (renamed Mercedes-AMG SL-class for the third generation onwards), and the two-door luxury-coupé brief moved upstream. The C217 sits in a closed-window market: production-discontinued, depreciation-floored, and wearing a body that no current Mercedes replicates. The Mansory programme treats it as the jewellery object Mercedes positioned it as — bonded carbon flares, full carbon bumpers, no compromise on the panel count.

This is a wide build, not a soft kit. Owners shopping a Soft-Kit-style overlay programme on a different chassis will find that logic on the SUV-coupe pages — the GLE Coupe C292 Soft Kit is the closest analogue from the soft-overlay side. The C217 has no soft-kit option in the Mansory catalogue; the chassis was always programmed as a wide build.

Why a wide programme on the S Coupé makes a different argument

On an off-road platform like the W463 G-class, a wide build is about visual posture — the car gets dragged farther from sedan convention. On the S Coupé, the argument runs the other way. The factory C217 already presents a two-door the size of a long-wheelbase E-class (5,027 mm overall length, 2,945 mm wheelbase) — the body is already large. The Mansory wide programme does not push that further by adding length; it widens the silhouette by approximately 55 mm overall (+25 mm per side at the front, +30 mm per side at the rear) so the proportions read as a Coupé in the literal sense rather than as a long luxury hatch in two-door clothes. That is a precise visual delta — wide enough to register, narrow enough that the car still passes through any driveway built for the OEM C217.

What the C217 brings to the build

The C217 chassis is the W222 S-class sedan platform with a shortened wheelbase and a redrawn upper body. The shared underbody means the brake calipers, the suspension hardpoints and the powertrain options carry across from the sedan. Mansory's flare bonds onto the OEM steel fender and pushes the track outward by a measured amount — the chassis itself is unchanged, since the suspension upright and wheel-bearing centre remain in the OEM position.

Carbon parts — every Mansory piece on the bodywork

The wide programme replaces the OEM bumpers and bonds carbon flares onto the OEM steel fenders. This is a one-way conversion at the body — unlike a soft kit, the build does not peel back to OEM in an afternoon.

  • Front bumper assembly — full carbon replacement, integrated splitter and brake-cooling cutouts, OEM headlight pass-through retained
  • Vented bonnet — full carbon bonnet replacement (not an overlay) with two functional NACA cuts
  • Bonded fender flares — front and rear, +25 mm per side at the front axle and +30 mm per side at the rear
  • Side strakes — carbon shoulder line bridging the new front and rear flares; the C217's long door makes this the most visible of the wide-body pieces
  • Rear bumper assembly — full carbon replacement with integrated diffuser and four-tip exhaust cutout (S 63 / S 65 AMG) or twin-tip (S 500)
  • Boot spoiler — carbon kick on the boot lid, sized for the C217's already-aggressive trailing edge
  • Mirror caps — visible weave overlay

Bonded flares mean body-shop work — strip, prep, paint, fit. The build runs 10 to 14 days at a Mansory-experienced shop, with carbon panels primed and shot to body colour. Most owners spec the bonnet in lacquered visible weave and paint everything else, which keeps the carbon language readable on a colour car without burying the build in clear-coat workload.

Powertrain options — three engines, three exhausts

The C217 ran four powertrains across its production. The Mansory exhaust system ships in three variants matched to the three engine families:

TrimEnginePowerMansory exhaust variant
S 500 Coupé / S 550 CoupéM278 4.7 V8 biturbo455 / 449 PSTwin-tip, valved
S 63 AMG Coupé (2014–2017)M157 5.5 V8 biturbo585 PSQuad-tip, valved
S 63 AMG Coupé (2017+ facelift)M177 4.0 V8 biturbo612 PSQuad-tip, valved (M177 part-number set)
S 65 AMG CoupéM279 6.0 V12 biturbo630 PSQuad-tip, V12-specific straight-pipe acoustic

Mansory's optional Powerbox piggyback module is offered on the M157 and M177 V8 cars but not on the M279 V12 — the V12's factory tuning headroom is already at the top of the engine's reliable range, and Mansory does not pretend a piggyback module on a V12 returns power proportional to the risk. On the V8 cars the Powerbox lifts the M157 from 585 PS to roughly 660 PS and the M177 from 612 PS to approximately 700 PS.

Wheels — 22" forged stagger

Mansory specifies the M-series fully forged 22" wheel as the matched fitment, in a stagger to match the wider rear track. The OEM 21" AMG wheel is a cast unit; the Mansory forging trims roughly 5 kg of unsprung mass per corner. Diamond black, gloss black and matte chrome are the matched finishes; the wheel range lives at the forged wheel collection. The 22" forging clears the OEM AMG carbon-ceramic brake package on the S 63 / S 65 without spacers.

Interior — narrow scope, OEM Designo retained

The C217 cabin from the factory was already at the upper end of what Mercedes Designo could specify — quilted hide on every panel, contrast piping, three-tone leather, ambient lighting in 64 colours. Mansory's interior parts on this chassis are deliberately narrow: a sport steering wheel with carbon spoke-back, metal pedals, carbon inlays for the centre stack, dashboard and door pulls. Seats, headlining and door cards stay OEM Designo. Owners who want a fully retrimmed cabin run that conversation through Mercedes Manufaktur first, then add the Mansory carbon trim parts on top.

Donor scope — what fits and what does not

The kit is dimensioned for the 2014–2020 C217 S-class Coupé. It does not fit:

  • The C216 CL-class Coupé (2007–2014) — entirely different body
  • The C223 Mercedes-AMG SL-class (2021+) — different chassis and different brief
  • The S-class sedan (W222) — different upper body, different rear deck
  • The S-class Cabriolet A217 (the convertible variant of C217) — close enough at the front clip but the rear deck and boot lid are different; Cabriolet-specific tooling is a separate Mansory part-number set

Material and care notes for the lacquered carbon parts are documented in the carbon fibre care guide.

Worldwide shipping & quoting

C217 Coupé owners cluster where two-door luxury Coupés have a strong cultural fit — the Gulf, Switzerland, Monaco, Hong Kong and the German home market. Hodoor World ships pre-assembled crates with paint-pattern documentation to the UAE, Qatar, Monaco, Switzerland and Hong Kong via DHL or DSV freight forwarding. Pricing on request via [email protected] or WhatsApp +44 7488 818747; quotes specify the donor engine variant so the right exhaust ships with the kit.

FAQ

Will the wide build fit my C217 Cabriolet?
The front clip and side strakes will fit the A217 Cabriolet. The rear bumper, boot spoiler and rear-quarter flares are coupé-specific. A Cabriolet build is technically possible as a partial fit but Mansory does not catalogue the A217 as a covered chassis — the bespoke department handles Cabriolet conversions on commission rather than as a catalogue order.

Does the wide programme work on a US-spec S 550 Coupé?
Yes. The S 550 (US-market) and S 500 (rest-of-world) share the M278 4.7 V8 biturbo and identical bodywork. The Mansory bumpers, flares and exhaust are interchangeable between the two markets. The exhaust ships in the M278 part-number variant for both.

Will the bonded flares affect the OEM warranty?
The C217 is past its OEM body warranty window in 2026 — the youngest cars built are over five years old. Mercedes powertrain warranty obligations for older cars are handled through service contracts that do not assess body modifications. The wide programme does not touch the driveline.

Are 23" wheels available instead of the 22"?
The 22" M-series forging is the matched fitment Mansory engineered for this build. A 23" stagger is technically possible but introduces clearance issues at full lock and adds tyre sidewall stack that the OEM C217 air suspension was not calibrated for. Mansory does not recommend the 23" route on this chassis.

How does the build compare to a Brabus or Lorinser C217 conversion?
The three programmes target the same chassis with different visual languages. Brabus on the C217 emphasises performance numbers and engine-bay carbon work; Lorinser leans toward ornament-driven exterior trim; Mansory's brief is the wide-body silhouette and forged-wheel composition. Cross-shopping is straightforward — most owners pick the brand whose visual register most fits the rest of the collection.
