MANSORY Cormeum for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG — the M159-V8-hearted gullwing in carbon

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, internal chassis code C197, is the car that announced AMG as a clean-sheet engineering business rather than an in-house tuner. Designed at Affalterbach with body styling by Mark Fetherston, the SLS AMG was AMG's first independent vehicle programme — aluminium spaceframe and M159 6.2 V8 NA, both developed at Affalterbach rather than carried over. Production ran June 2010 through July 2014 across coupé, roadster, GT, Black Series and GT Final Edition variants, total run approximately 8 200 cars. The Mansory Cormeum is a collector-class kit — the SLS is now a fixed-production halo with no direct successor.

Cormeum is Latin: "of the heart". The name refers to the M159 — the last front-engined, naturally-aspirated, rear-drive V8 grand tourer AMG built. Mansory framed the Cormeum programme around preserving the SLS's mechanical identity in carbon rather than re-architecting the car's aerodynamics. The kit is therefore narrower than a typical Mansory widebody; it does not bond fender flares or push the wheel arches outward. It supplies a full schedule of carbon visible panels matched to the SLS's existing body-line, plus a dorsal roof scoop and a rear deck spoiler that work with the M159's airbox geometry. SLS AMG C197 — the chassis underneath the Cormeum

The C197 is an aluminium spaceframe with a transaxle gearbox and front-mid-engine layout. Wheelbase: 2 680 mm. Length: 4 638 mm. Width: 1 939 mm. Front track 1 682 mm, rear 1 653 mm. Kerb weight: 1 695 kg wet for the SLS AMG coupé; Roadster adds ~40 kg for the soft-top mechanism; Black Series sheds ~70 kg through carbon-roof construction, lithium-ion battery and stripped interior to land at ~1 550 kg wet. Double-wishbone aluminium suspension at all four corners. Drivetrain across all variants is the AMG 7-speed dual-clutch transaxle (gearbox mounted behind the differential for near-50/50 distribution) driving the rear wheels only. The SLS was never produced with all-wheel drive.

M159 6.2 V8 — the engine the Cormeum dresses

The M159 is the last AMG-produced naturally-aspirated V8. Bore 102.2 mm, stroke 94.6 mm, capacity 6 208 cm³, dry-sump lubrication, redline 7 200 rpm. Output by trim:

The M159 in any trim is unmodified by the Cormeum programme. The kit is body-only; the airbox geometry around the dorsal roof scoop is preserved at OEM specification, with the roof scoop functional only on the Black Series donor (the standard SLS roof is sealed; the Black Series carries a roof-mounted air-feed for the cold-air induction).

What the Cormeum kit ships

Hand-laid 2x2 twill weave on visible aerodynamic pieces, pre-preg dry-carbon for the splitter and the rear deck spoiler. Mansory's Cormeum wheel programme defaults to a 20" front / 21" rear staggered forged set: 275/35 R20 front, 305/30 R21 rear. PCD 5x112, centre bore 66.6 mm, ET range matched to the OEM SLS arch geometry — the Cormeum runs at OEM track and does not require fender modification. FAQ

Will the Cormeum kit fit the AMG GT R190 or the AMG GT R192 (the cars that succeeded the SLS)?
No. The SLS C197 and the AMG GT R190 are different chassis — different wheelbase, different bumper line, different door geometry (the GT does not have gullwing doors). Each AMG halo platform has its own dedicated programme: the AMG GT (R190), the AMG GT 63 S E Performance (R192), and the older SLR McLaren (R199). None of those programmes share panels with the Cormeum.

SLS AMG Roadster (drop-top) — is the kit different?
Largely the same with two exceptions. First, the dorsal roof scoop is a coupé-only Black Series specification; the Roadster has no fixed roof to mount it to. Second, the side-skirt cut-out integrates with the Roadster's lower door reveal differently from the gullwing door's cut-out — a separate side-skirt SKU is bundled for Roadster donors. All other Cormeum components fit the Roadster at OEM dimensions.

Black Series-specific cooling and aero — does the kit interfere?
The Black Series carries a unique front-fender vent enlargement, a unique carbon roof, a unique cold-air intake routing through the dorsal roof scoop, and a fixed (non-deployable) rear wing in place of the standard car's electrically-deployable module. The Cormeum components for a Black Series donor are dimensioned to clear all of those Black-specific features. The fender-vent surround SKU has a Black Series variant; the rear deck spoiler has a Black-Series-fixed-wing variant; the dorsal roof scoop is functional only on the Black Series.
