Porsche Macan S (95B) Tuning Guide 2026 — Body Kits, Wheels & Performance

The Porsche Macan S is the compact Porsche SUV that fanatics call the "baby Cayenne" — a 95B-platform, MLB-based crossover that shared its architecture with the first-generation Audi Q5 and, in spirit, condensed 911 reflexes into a five-door silhouette. The Macan S was always the sweet spot of the range: properly quick, affordable relative to the Turbo, and the variant that actually sold in meaningful numbers to enthusiasts. Produced from 2014 through 2024 before the all-electric Macan EV replaced it in Europe (the ICE Macan continues in non-EU markets at time of writing), the Macan S is now entering its "modern classic" phase — values are stabilising, parts supply is excellent, and a very mature tuning ecosystem exists around it. This guide covers every meaningful upgrade available: body kits from the blue-chip Porsche aftermarket houses, forged wheels in the right sizes and offsets, Stage 1/2 ECU work that exploits the supercharged and twin-turbo V6 variants, and the suspension, brake and exhaust upgrades that make the car actually faster rather than just louder.

Platform Overview

The Macan 95B rides on an MLB variant shared with the first-generation Audi Q5 (8R), which is why you will occasionally see Q5 suspension components, brake hardware and driveline parts cross-reference straight onto a Macan S. The engines come from two different Audi families: the 3.0-litre supercharged V6 in pre-2018 cars is the same EA839 relative used in the Audi S4/S5 of that era, and the post-2018 twin-turbo V6 is Porsche's own 3.0/2.9-litre variant. Both are deeply tunable. What this means practically for a Macan S build is that parts, knowledge and calibration work developed by tuners like APR (who have a long history with VW Group V6s) translate directly — and that the aftermarket ecosystem is one of the richest of any compact SUV. The Macan S is the intelligent enthusiast's choice: Turbo muscle is unnecessary on road, and the S provides a more balanced chassis with enough power to exploit.

Body Kits

TechArt Aerodynamic Kit — the Porsche specialist's reference

TechArt has worked exclusively on Porsche cars since 1987 and its Macan Aerodynamic Kit is the reference aftermarket body programme for the 95B. The package includes a deeper front apron with enlarged brake-cooling intakes, TechArt side skirt extensions, a sculpted rear diffuser integrated with the quad exhaust, a subtle rear spoiler lip and new bonnet vents on the wider spec. Every panel is produced in Porsche OEM-specification polyurethane with factory paint-match quality and TechArt co-develops the aero package with its own Formula IV and Formula V forged wheel lines so the stance sits exactly right. The TechArt interior programme extends the treatment inside: full leather retrim, carbon trim inserts and Alcantara headliner in any Porsche-approved hide. This is the kit to choose if you want a restrained, unmistakably Porsche-looking Macan S that still reads as OEM+ rather than tuner.

Mansory — carbon-weave wide-arch

The Mansory Macan programme is the opposite philosophy — full exposed-carbon fender flares, an aggressive new front lip with canards, a reprofiled bonnet with carbon vents, carbon side skirts and a pronounced rear diffuser. Mansory delivers the kit in either gloss or matte twill-weave carbon and pairs it with a comprehensive interior retrim: carbon dashboard, Alcantara roof liner and Mansory-branded sill plates. It is aimed squarely at the Dubai/Monaco clientele and is the loudest possible Macan S. Fitment is professional-only — full bumper removal, modified inner wheel liners and precise arch trimming are required — and a proper Mansory installation takes a shop about four working days.

TopCar Lights & TopCar Design — Russian carbon specialist

TopCar Design is the Moscow-based house that has been producing Porsche carbon body programmes for over a decade, and the Macan "Lights" package is its signature treatment for the 95B. Expect a full set of exposed-carbon fender flares, a heavily reprofiled front splitter with integrated LED DRL accents, carbon side sill extensions, a ducktail-style rear spoiler and TopCar's quad-outlet exhaust integration. The carbon quality is exceptional — TopCar uses 2x2 twill weave with a clear-coat finish that holds up to UV — and the fitment is designed around the car's factory panel gaps so nothing looks cobbled on.

JE Design Widebody — downforce-biased programme

The German tuner JE Design offers its widebody programme for the Macan S with a focus on actual aerodynamic performance rather than just visual drama. The kit includes a carbon front splitter with adjustable ground clearance, wider front and rear arches (+50 mm per side), carbon side skirts and a rear wing option that is wind-tunnel validated for real downforce at speed. JE Design pairs its kit with 22-inch forged wheels and a lowering module. This is the programme to specify if your Macan S is going to see trackdays as well as school runs.

Hofele Design — elegant grand-tourer

Hofele Design works primarily on Mercedes but has a Macan programme that tones the car in the opposite direction — more formal, more executive, less aggressive. The Hofele package includes a more conservative front apron, bright-metal window surrounds, restyled rear valance and Hofele's 21-inch forged wheels. It is the kit to specify if you want the car to read "executive chauffeur" rather than "tuner build" — and the paint-match and panel fit are among the best in the industry.

Wheels

The Macan 95B runs a 5x112 PCD with a 66.5 mm centre bore — the same VW Group pattern used by the Audi Q5, Q7 and A6. Factory fitments on the S run 19- to 21-inch; aftermarket builds typically sit at 21 or 22 inch. The practical sweet spot is 21x9.0J ET26 front, 21x10.0J ET19 rear, wrapped in 265/40 ZR21 front and 295/35 ZR21 rear — that gives a full wheel-face within the factory arches on a non-widebody car and pairs beautifully with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or Pirelli P Zero PZ4 tyre selection. On a widebody TechArt or Mansory build, step up to 22x9.5J ET25 front / 22x10.5J ET18 rear with 275/35 ZR22 and 315/30 ZR22. Stick to forged construction from HRE FF21 (satin gunmetal, brushed bronze or tarmac), Anrky AN39 (three-piece forged in 21 or 22), or Vossen Forged (M-X and S17-01 series). Avoid cheap cast wheels — the Macan S's mass, AWD torque and sporting brake bias will stress-crack anything that is not properly forged, particularly after a few summers of hard driving. Budget 14-20 weeks for a proper forged set in custom spec, and insist on TPMS-integrated valve stems (the 95B uses the Porsche 433 MHz system, not the Audi 315 MHz you will see on US Q5s).

Performance

Both Macan S engine families are highly tunable. For the 2018+ 3.0 twin-turbo V6, an APR Stage 1 ECU flash is the reference calibration: it lifts output from 354 hp / 480 Nm to roughly 410 hp and 580 Nm on 98-octane, with no hardware changes required and the factory PDK remapped to tolerate the extra torque. Cobb Tuning's Macan S Off-The-Shelf (OTS) map is a strong alternative, particularly for US-market cars where the AccessPort hardware is well-supported. Litchfield in the UK offers a more conservative Stage 1 product that some owners prefer for long-term daily use. Stage 2 with a downpipe, high-flow intercooler and cat-back exhaust lifts output to around 440-470 hp. For exhaust-only owners, the Akrapovic Slip-On system for the Macan S is the gold standard — stainless construction, valve-controlled, TÜV approved and around 9 kg lighter than the factory rear silencer section. Capristo offers an exhaust valve control module (open/close on throttle demand) that pairs beautifully with the OEM or Akrapovic systems. For the pre-2018 supercharged 340 hp V6, APR's supercharger-pulley kit combined with Stage 1 software delivers a similar 400+ hp result.

Suspension, Brakes & Lowering

The steel-spring Macan S is slightly under-damped out of the box for a car of its weight. A pair of H&R 30 mm lowering springs is the low-cost, high-impact first move: they drop the car about 30 mm front and rear on a steel-suspension car, work correctly with the factory PASM dampers, and transform the stance without ruining the daily-driver ride quality. For a more serious build, KW V3 coilovers give 30-50 mm of adjustable lowering front and rear, independently adjustable rebound and compression damping, and are TÜV-approved. Owners on the optional air suspension can use a Bilstein or H&R lowering module instead. For the brakes, the factory steel system is fine for road use; track-biased owners specify the factory PSCB tungsten-coated option or go to a Brembo or AP Racing big-brake kit with 380 mm rotors.

Interior

TechArt offers the most comprehensive interior programme for the Macan S — full leather retrim in any Porsche-approved hide, carbon-fibre trim inserts, Alcantara headliner, bespoke stitching patterns and carbon sill plates. Mansory's cabin work is louder and more colour-contrasted; Hofele is more conservative and executive. All three houses can retrofit Alcantara steering wheels with carbon inlays and custom gear-shifter surrounds.

Before & After: A Real Macan S Build

Here is what actually changes when a real Macan S build leaves the shop. Stock configuration: 2019 Macan S, 354 hp / 480 Nm from the 3.0 twin-turbo V6, factory 20-inch Style A wheels, Sport Chrono pack, PASM, no other options — a well-specced but visually quiet daily. The build brief was clear: faster, better-sounding, noticeably lowered, but still school-run friendly.

Work list, one week in the shop: APR Stage 1 ECU flash taking the car to 405 hp / 580 Nm on 98-octane, Akrapovic Slip-On cat-back with carbon tailpipe tips, H&R 30 mm lowering springs on the factory PASM dampers, a set of 21x9.5 ET26 / 21x10.5 ET20 HRE FF21 in satin gunmetal wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (265/40 front, 295/35 rear), TechArt front lip spoiler in body-colour paint, and carbon mirror caps. No widebody, no aggressive splitter — deliberately restrained.

Daily impressions in the first week: turn-in is visibly sharper, the front end loads up faster on corner entry thanks to the lower ride height and stiffer springs. The exhaust is deeper but not obnoxious — it idles civilised and only really barks past 4,000 rpm, which is exactly right for a car that still does school runs at 07:45. The ride is slightly firmer over expansion joints but never harsh; Alcantara rear-seat passengers do not complain. Throttle response mid-range is transformed — the APR Stage 1 calibration gives the V6 a far more immediate turbo spool, and overtakes that used to need a downshift now happen in the current gear. Head-turning at school pickup? Measurably. Three other Porsche owners asked about the wheels in the first week, and one parent booked a Hodoor consultation off the back of seeing the car. The Macan S went from "sensible Porsche SUV" to "the quick one in the car park" without ever becoming a cliché.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I buy a late ICE Macan S or wait for the Macan EV?

It depends on use case. The Macan EV (built on the Volkswagen PPE platform) is a genuinely fast, quiet, refined electric SUV — but it is a completely different car with different weight, different chassis character and fundamentally different tuning paths. The ICE Macan S is lighter, has an engine note, has a dual-clutch transmission that is a joy to use, and continues to be supported by the full Porsche aftermarket. For enthusiasts who actually want to modify and enjoy their car, the ICE Macan S — particularly the 2021+ 380 hp car — is the better buy. The EV is a better commuter. In non-EU markets, Porsche has kept the ICE Macan in production, which suggests they agree the two cars serve different buyers.

Does APR Stage 1 void the Porsche warranty on a Macan S?

In most EU and UK markets, Porsche operates in practice on a "magnuson-moss"-style basis: a non-invasive modification does not void unrelated warranty items. However, an ECU flash that increases boost pressure (such as APR Stage 1) can void powertrain warranty on the engine and PDK transmission if Porsche diagnostics detect the modification. Reputable tuners like APR and Litchfield document their work carefully, and some offer parallel warranty products covering the drivetrain after the flash. The practical answer: if your car is still under factory warranty, be clear-eyed that a flash puts the powertrain warranty at risk. Many owners wait until the factory warranty expires before flashing, or take out third-party coverage through the tuner.

Can a Macan S actually tow, and does tuning affect that?

Yes — the factory-optional tow package on the Macan S is rated at 2,400 kg braked, which is enough for a small boat, a two-axle trailer or a single-car transporter. The 3.0 twin-turbo V6 is not remotely stressed by this load. An APR Stage 1 flash does not reduce tow capacity and in fact gives you more low-end torque for pulling out of a ramp or a hill start. What you should avoid is combining heavy towing with an aggressive lowered-spring setup — the Macan S's factory ride-height matters for trailer hitch geometry, and an H&R 30 mm drop will slightly reduce tongue clearance on uneven surfaces. Stick to the factory height or a KW V3 set at factory height for tow-heavy use.

Is 21-inch the right wheel size, or should I go 22-inch for ride quality?

21-inch is the sweet spot for ride quality and daily usability on a Macan S. The 40-profile tyre (265/40 ZR21 front, 295/35 rear) gives enough sidewall to absorb road imperfections without destroying rim hardware on pothole strikes. 22-inch looks more dramatic but the 30- or 35-profile tyres make the car noticeably busier over broken urban surfaces and significantly increase the risk of wheel damage. If you are running 22s, you really want to be on a widebody conversion (TechArt or Mansory) where the geometry is designed for them. For a non-widebody Macan S, we recommend stopping at 21 inch and spending the saved money on a proper forged construction — an HRE FF21 or Anrky AN39 in 21 inch will look and feel better than a generic cast 22.
